Zhong Biao
Zhong Biao (b. 1968, Chongqing, China) is a leading figure in Chinese contemporary painting. He graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, now China Academy of Art, in 1991, and is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.
Zhong’s paintings bring together precisely rendered figures, fragments of contemporary life, historical references and sweeping abstract forms. Images drawn from different places and moments collide across the canvas, creating dynamic visual fields in which reality appears to dissolve and reassemble. Through these layered compositions, the artist explores time, space, memory and the invisible forces underlying the material world.
His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions across Asia, Europe and the United States, and is represented in institutional collections including the M+ Sigg Collection, Guangdong Museum of Art, Shanghai Art Museum, Singapore Art Museum and Gwangju Museum of Art.
